Blitz Rankings: Week 9

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - Here are the Week 9 Blitz rankings with some teams essentially wrapping up district titles, and others fighting for playoff spots and positioning.

LARGE SCHOOLS:

1) Calallen   (7-0)

*Wildcats gave up a bunch of points to Victoria West, but they're still unbeaten and on their way to a district title

2) Flour Bluff   (7-1)

*The Hornets all but wrapped up the 31-4A title with a dominating performance against Ray

3) Alice   (7-1)

*Alice is locked in right now, with only a failed 2-point conversion separating the Coyotes from a district title and an undefeated regular season (27-26 loss to Flour Bluff)

4) Ray   (6-2)

*The Texans suffered their second blowout loss in 31-4A, but Ray is still a virtual lock for 3rd in the district

5) Carroll   (3-4)

*The Tigers' overall record doesn't impress thanks to a brutal non-district schedule, but if the playoffs started today Carroll would be in. The Tigers can likely clinch a spot with a win over South San in the regular season finale.

Others: T-M (4-3), G-P (3-5)

SMALL SCHOOLS:

1) Refugio   (7-1)

*The Bobcats might have suffered a rare regular season loss earlier in the season, but they're rolling right through District 16-2A Div. II

2) Sinton   (6-2)

*The Pirates are playing solid football right now heading towards the postseason, but their spot at #2 depends on what happens with Ingleside-Orange Grove next week

3) Orange Grove   (7-1)

*The Bulldogs will likely have a shot at forcing a three-way tie in 30-3A for the third straight year with next week's monster showdown with Ingleside

4) Kingsville   (6-2)

*The Brahmas all but wrapped up the district title with a two touchdown win over Raymondville

5) Ingleside   (6-2)

*The Mustangs struggled in a tough non-district schedule, but they've been tearing up 30-3A including a win over #2 Sinton. Ingleside will be looking to move up with a district title if they can beat Rockport-Fulton Friday and #3 Orange Grove next week.

Others: Woodsboro (7-1), Taft (6-2), Aransas Pass (6-2), Mathis (6-2)
