Woman Arrested for DWI After Hitting Telephone Pole
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
A woman was arrested on charges of DWI after hitting an electrical pole and rolling her vehicle early Wednesday morning. It happened just before 12:30AM Wednesday morning.
Police say the woman was traveling along Alameda and turning onto Ropes when she hit the pole then knocking it down. The pickup truck she was driving ended up rolling over.
Melanie Garcia, 31, was taken to the hospital for observation. Officers also took a blood sample to send off for testing. Garcia was arrested for DWI and taken to the Nueces County Jail.
Police were forced to shut down Alameda for a few hours. Crews with American Electric Power were called out to the scene to repair the broke power pole. Police estimate the damage to the pole to be about $5,000.
