Today is All Souls Day, a day celebrated to honor our loved ones who are no longer with us. Memory Gardens on Old Brownsville Road was one of several cemeteries where Catholic families visited relatives who have passed.
All Souls Day focuses more, not exactly on death, but rather the celebration of life. A deacon was also on hand to bless those graves. It's all apart of the Dia de los Muertos holiday.
Deacon Alfonso Ramirez said, "it's a great opportunity for us to celebrate life. I know many people don't look forward to death and don't want to think about their mortality, but for us to come together and we too will some day be buried and that we pray someone will be praying for us and remembering us,to bring consultation and hope to people." Today is believed to be a day when its easier for the souls of the departed to visit the living.
Many people brought their loved ones favorite food and gifts to their graves.
