Friday Night Sports Blitz - Week 10: Part III

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - Once upon a time, Ray and Miller would play their annual game on Thanksgiving Day. The rivalry was that intense. Nowadays, it's simply another District 31-4A game. But for a second straight season, the Miller Bucs showed Ray who's boss and beat the playoff-bound Texans 26-20 on Homecoming Night.

The Carroll Tigers completed a turnaround season on Friday with a 38-6 win over South San that pushed Carroll into a tie for second place in District 28-5A and a spot in the Class 5A playoffs. Not bad for a team that lost its first nine games last season.

Their intense CCISD rivals, the King Mustangs, were picked for great things this season, but King completed a disappointing 2-7 season with a 27-20 loss at East Central. Despite a 1-3 district record, the Mustangs could still have made the postseason with a win against East Central.

Refugio traveled to Skidmore-Tynan to wrap up the regular season with a "battle of the Bobcats." As expected, the state-ranked Refugio Bobcats wound up on top, 57-7.

Aransas Pass and Mathis tuned up for the playoffs on Friday night in Mathis. AP rallied from a first-half deficit to shanghai the Pirates 36-18.

The Freer Buckaroos were playing for pride against district rival Banquete. They were just proud enough to surprise the host Bulldogs 28-21. Freer ended its season at 3-6, while Banquete moves on to the playoffs, despite the loss.

The Sinton Pirate band provided the musical background for the final Marching Scoreboard of the regular season.
