Christus Spohn Kleberg Celebrates Recognition from March of Dimes

KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg hosted a community event Thursday in honor of being recognized by the March of Dimes for delivering healthy babies.

"Christus Spohn Kleberg is ahead of their time in setting these standards in South Texas, and we commend them," said Heather Butscher of the March of Dimes.

Following a special recognition ceremony from the March of Dimes, parents who had their children delivered at Christus Spohn Kleberg talked about the importance of full-term pregnancy and reunited their children -- decked out in superhero capes and onesies that said "Worth the Wait" -- with the nurses and doctors that cared for them.

A partnership between the March of Dimes and Christus Spohn has worked to lower the amount of early child deliveries.

"It just shows that our unit committed to excellent care for our mothers," registered nurse Shelby Ring said.

Representatives with the March of Dimes said that they just want to make sure every woman has a healthy pregnancy.
