Police Track Down Suspected Car Burglar

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A wild foot chase to tell you about that started after police got a call that an armed car burglar was looking through all the cars at a southside apartment complex. Officers got to the apartment complex at Holly and Weber and ran down Justen Gunnels.

Police say Gunnels was trying to find a car to get into but was confronted by an apartment resident .

It was then that police say gunnels threatened the witness with a gun.

That witness then called 9-1-1 and gunnels took off running -- ditching that gun in some bushes during his attempted escape. With the help of a CCPD K-9, officers were able to locate an air pistol, they say Gunnels tossed during the chase. Gunnels is now facing a number of charges including evading arrest and public intoxication.
