CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

For the last 32 years, Corpus Christi has brightened up the downtown Shoreline area with 75 feet of holiday cheer, and that continued on Tuesday.

The 75-foot Christmas tree -- made up of 70 strands of garland and more than 5,000 lights, topped with a grand star -- was hoisted up Tuesday morning. It took some time and teamwork between the City, two donated cranes and crew members from Bay Limited.

"Quite a few hours," said Alta Garcia, Harbor Lights Festival treasurer. "We are not done yet, but it's quite a few hours, and thanks to the City people who are helping us out, it's coming together."

The tree will officially be lit during the Harbor Lights Festival at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. Mayor Nelda Martinez will be joined by Santa Clause as they flip the switch. Also, our very own Kiii News anchors Joe Gazin and Jane Monreal will be emceeing the event during the lighting of the tree.
