Tree of Angels to Be Decorated by Families of Crime Victims

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The holidays can be a difficult time for those of us who have lost a loved one, especially if that loss was due to a violent crime.

That's why the Coalition of Crime Victims' Rights is putting up a special Christmas tree dedicated to those lives lost here in the Coastal Bend. It's called the Tree of Angels, and unfortunately, many more names will be added to that tree this year.

"To have each member of a family who lost a loved one to place a special tree that will be up from the first week in December to after the new year," Victim Assistance Coordinator Rosa Maria Cervantes said. "That way the families were given an opportunity to remember the loved one."

Families will add ornaments to that tree during a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nueces County Courthouse.
