CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A man that is currently incarcerated in a Huntsville prison has been charged with the murder of 21-year old Michael Andrew Martinez, who was found dead in a burned Corpus Christi residence last year.

After nearly a year of investigation, police have charged 33-year old Matthew Sean Grier with Martinez' murder. He is currently incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Byrd Unit in Huntsville on charges of DWI and evading arrest.

It was Dec. 19, 2012, when firefighters responding to a structure fire at a home in the 1500 block of Seventh Street had discovered Martinez' body inside. The fire was ruled as arson, and since then, Corpus Christi Police Department detectives have been investigating the young man's death as a homicide.

According to CCPD Lt. Kelly Isaacks, the case was the last remaining unsolved homicide of 2012.
