Aransas Pass Adopts Ordinance Banning Cell Phones While Driving

ARANSAS PASS (Kiii News) -

According to Aransas Pass Police Chief Eric Blanchard, the recently adopted ban on cell phone use while drive prompted Aransas Pass City Council to approve an ordinance of their own.

The City of Aransas Pass published an official notice of the ordinance on Wednesday, and will give drivers a grace period of 30 days. During that time, drivers will receive warnings instead of citations for handling their cell phones while within city limits.

However, by Jan. 10, 2014, those warnings will be replaced by fines of up to $500.
