Learn How to Care For Your Holiday Plants in Cold Weather

Posted: Updated:

While you stay warm inside don't forget about keeping your plants warm too. At what point do you need to bring your plants inside or cover them?

Reporter Sarah Acosta visited the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Rockport, TX and learned tips on how to care for holiday plants and non-native plants during cooler temperatures.

Poinsettias need to be taken inside once temperatures drop to the 40s because they are tropical plants. Any other tropical potted plants, which are non-native plants, need to also be taken inside or even to the porch where they can be more protected from the wind.

Watch Sarah Acosta's live clip from the 3 News First Edition with AgriLife Extension Agent, Ginger Easton Smith who gives a number of tips on how to care for holiday plants and keeping plants alive during the cold temperatures.
