Fundraising to Help Green-N-Go Cab Driver Injured in Accident

Posted: Updated:

Donations have steadily been coming in for a cab driver that was sent to the hospital following an accident last week.

The Green-N-Go cab company said that, so far, they have raised about $2,500, and are expecting more donations to come in this week.

The donations are going to 30-year old Tom Nelson, who was driving his cab last Thursday morning when another vehicle slammed into him near Staples and Saratoga. Nelson was set to undergo surgery on Tuesday, but that has been postponed because he is coming down with pneumonia. Doctors are treating it aggressively, and hope to be able to go through with the surgery by Wednesday.

Nelson has family in Refugio that are setting up a spaghetti dinner fundraiser. It will be held from noon-7 p.m. Sunday at the VFW in Refugio, located at 1102 Victoria Highway.

The officer manager at Green-N-Go Cabs purchased Nelson's wife a plane ticket so that she can come to Corpus Christi. She is expected to be here by next Tuesday.
