18-Wheeler Crash Causes Outage in Kingsville, Driver Fled Scene

KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

An 18-wheeler crashed into pole at 11th and King in Kingsville at around 3:45 p.m. Friday, causing widespread power outages in the area. Police are still looking for the driver.

According the Kingsville Police Department, the driver of the 18-wheeler may work for Ramos Trucking, and he reportedly fled the scene of the accident heading westbound from King Avenue.

American Electric Power Texas said it was a primary line that was hit, affecting just over 1,000 customers. By around 4:30 p.m., they had restored power to 777 customers. The remaining customers are going to be without power until about 6 p.m. at the earliest.

Traffic lights near King Avenue and its cross streets were non-operational, and some may still be affected through 6 p.m. Drivers are advised to use caution in the area. Call your local electric provider if you are without power.
