For more than 50 years Victor Lara Ortegon's voice was a staple on Spanish language radio throughout the Coastal Bend. Starting his career in the early 1950's on the second Spanish language station in the nation, KUNO.

"Over they years he became not only the voice of Corpus Christi, but also the voice of the Spanish speaking community," said Lara's coworker at KUNO, Luis Alonzo Munoz.

Long time colleague Munoz says Victor Lara was nothing short of a pioneer in the infancy of Spanish language broadcast journalism.
