CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A change of command ceremony was held Thursday morning aboard the U.S.S. Lexington as Cmdr. Charles Stahl assumes command of Naval Air Station-Kingsville's Fighting Redhawks.

The Fighting Redhawks, originally established in 1951 as Advanced Training Unit 202, was redesignated as Flight Training Squadron 21 in May of 1960. It has been a mainstay of Naval aviation for 57 years.

Stahl will be taking over for Cmdr. Brian Beck, who served as the squadron's executive officer in June of 2011 and then assumed command of the squadron in October of 2012. Stahl joined the squadron in 2012 as executive officer.
