Cisco Denies Refugio State Title With a 56-36 Win

ARLINGTON, TX (Kiii Sports)- Two years after winning the Class 2A Division II State Championship, the Refugio Bobcats met their match in a rematch.

The Cisco Loboes, who were on the short end of a 36-35 loss to Refugio in the 2011 State Title Game, left no doubters on Thursday night as they methodically rolled past the Bobcats 56-36 before over 11,000 fans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Refugio took a 7-0 lead on its opening drive, but were quickly countered by a Cisco team that featured an offense that was even more potent than the Bobcats' O.

The Loboes took a 28-21 lead at the half and then took control of the game with back-to-back touchdowns in the early stages of the third quarter. Cisco's defense harassed record-setting Refugio quarterback Travis Quintanilla for most of the game, grabbing three interceptions in the process.

The Bobcats were never able to get closer than the final margin in an unsuccessful try and a second state title in the past three years. Ironically, Cisco won its first-ever championship after making the Final five times in the past thirteen years.

Refugio ends the season at 14-2, while Cisco finishes with a perfect 16-0 record.
