County Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Suspect in 2012 Homicide

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Nueces County prosecutors announced Friday that murder charges against 36-year old Bacilio Hernandez have been dropped.

Hernandez, a known gang member, was initially charged in the shooting death of 29-year old Patrick Brailey in December of 2012, just outside the Smoking Waves Hookah Lounge in the 500 block of Water Street. Police had said that Hernandez fired a shot into a crowd following a disturbance outside the hookah lounge, and that the bullet fatally wounded Brailey.

Prosecutors have given no reason for why they dropped the charges against Hernandez. Police are now back at square one in their investigation into Brailey's homicide.
