Groceries Delivered to Less Fortunate Families Throughout the City

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Fruits, bread and sweet treats were delivered to 115 families in Corpus Christi on Monday, thanks to a local businessman and several dozen volunteers.

A caravan of Corpus Christi Police officers and community members delivered boxes of groceries from HEB to dozens of less fortunate families all over the city. For the past 37 years, local businessman Bob Corrigan has sponsored and organized the big grocery delivery with the Corpus Christi Police Department and HEB to make sure families in need can have a good Christmas.

"Well, we've got to always be mindful of what the season is about, and in 1976, I started doing this, trying to help those that are not as blessed as we are, to make their Christmas a little better," Corrigan said.

"It's so great that we get to go and help out the community and the less fortunate, and it's amazing to see the smile on their faces," said Neal Bonner, a junior at King High School. "This has been a tradition in our family to do this every year, forever."

Some families have turned the event into a Christmas Eve tradition because they say there is no better way to warm your heart.
