CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Kiii-TV is proud to be a part of the annual Coastal Bend Blood Center Winter Blood Drive, which takes place 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Cavender's Boot City, located at 4914 South Padre Island Drive.

January is National Blood Donor Month and there will be a great need for Type "O" blood following the holiday season. Stop by, be a lifesaver when you donate and enjoy some great food, and be sure to register for Winter Fun Prizes.

The Coastal Bend Blood Center, established in 1969, is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3) community service organization committed to unifying, centralizing and consolidating blood donor services in the Coastal Bend. These services include donor recruiting, community education, drawing, processing and distribution. An effective and efficient organization, more than 90-percent of the Blood Center's annual expenditures go directly to program services to benefit the community.

The Blood Center supplies blood and blood products to 13 medical facilities across 10 counties, and collects over 33,000 units of blood annually for the hospitals and patients of the Coastal Bend. For more information, call 361-855-4943 or visit www.coastalbendbloodcenter.org.
