How to Bring in the New Year Safely with Fireworks

Posted: Updated:

Fireworks are a traditional way to bring in the New Year. Make sure you use fireworks safely and abide by the law while celebrating the New Year.

It is illegal to bring opened packages of fireworks into the city limits, and if you get caught lighting them within the city you can be fined up to $2,000.

You can still purchase the fireworks and bring them into the city to store, as long as the packages are not opened and if in your car they need to remain away from the driver seat.

Stay safe while lighting fireworks by knowing your boundaries, stay away from dry grass, move away after you light them and make sure to aim them up and not at an angle.

Sarah Acosta put on a light show Friday with the managers of Alamo Fireworks in Odem, TX during the Three News First Edition, learning how to light fireworks safely.
