Driver Plunges Truck Into Nueces River

Posted: Updated:

The Corpus Christi Police Department's Search and Recovery Dive Team were busy Tuesday morning, trying to get a truck out of the Nueces River.

They showed up bright and early at the Labonte Park, as crews were at the boat ramp trying to pull out the vehicle.

Police say the truck ran off the road and into the water around 7:30 PM Monday night. A 26-year old man told police that his brakes failed on his truck and that's what led up to the watery mess.

"They had put some brake fluid in it and the brakes leaked out and he couldn't stop," says CCPD Lt. Thomas Nichols.

Police say the driver of the truck will not face any charges.
