Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

This freezing cold weather is some of the coldest we've seen in the past several winters.

One way to keep warm is to make sure your home is winter proofed.

Sarah Acosta was live during 3 News First Edition at the Meadowbrook Hardware store with home experts on basic ways to winterize your home.

Fred Hinojosa, with Meadowbrook said even though the freeze warning was only for one night, it's better to be safe than sorry and cover or insulate your pipes before the winter season.

Other ways to ensure the warmth of your home is to fill the cracks or holes in your doors or windows with easy foam or window strips.

He said after people use their fire places for the first couple of times this season, to make sure they keep them clean to avoid clogged pipes.
