CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Longtime City Councilwoman Priscilla Leal suffered a major stroke Friday morning and was flown to a Rio Grande Valley hospital for emergency treatment.

Leal was reportedly rushed to Doctors Regional Medical Center Friday morning but was transported via HALO Flight to Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen for specialized care.

"I'm devastated," Councilman Mark Scott said. "I talked to a couple of council members this morning. We're all just kind of talking to each other. Whether you agree or disagree, often with council members it's a small, unique fraternity. We have great compassion for those of us that have served together."

Leal, who is 67 years old, is serving her fourth term on the City Council representing District 3. We at 3News all wish her a speedy and full recovery.
