Motorcycle Accident Causes Chain Reaction Crashes on SPID

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A series of minor accidents following a motorcycle crash on SPID caused some major headaches for drivers Thursday morning.

The accident happened along the 2700 block of SPID at around 8 a.m. According to police, a motorcycle traveling on the westbound side rear ended another vehicle as it was changing lanes. The motorcyclist was ejected and sustained some minor injuries.

Then, police say people slowing down to check out the accident ended up getting into accidents themselves.

"Because of that initial accident, there were three or four accidents," said Lt. Robert Alvarado of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "People slowing down, people who were rubber necking. We are still investigating that."

The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital just to be checked out. Police also said he will be given a ticket for the crash.
