Investigators Believe Arson Involved in Vacant House Fires Overnight

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Fire investigators say they have a case of arson on their hands after two homes went up in flames in the 200 block of Watson Street overnight.

The fires broke out just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, at separate houses not adjacent to one another. Because they were separate, Corpus Christi Fire Department Battalion Chief Kenneth Erben said tackling the fire was challenging.

"Regardless of the challenge, crews did an excellent job and had control of both fires in 20 minutes," Erben said. "No injuries, civilian or firefighter. No victims in either house."

Fire officials believe both homes were abandoned, and investigators are now treating  the fires as an arson case.
