CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Some Coastal Bend residents are pushing for laws legalizing recreational use of marijuana after the recent passing of similar laws in Colorado and Washington State.

Last night, the House of Rock hosted an inaugural meeting for the local chapter of the "National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws"... or N.O.R.M.L. The meeting involved an orientation and volunteer drive.

"We're kind of the voice the political voice to try to get the laws changed," said member Kyle Hoelscher. "Corpus Christi is the only major metropolitan area in Texas without a N.O.R.M.L. Chapter."

For those that don't know, N.O.R.M.L. is the national organization for marijuana law reform. There are 300,000 people here in Corpus Christi who are not getting represented."

A free concert was also held at the meeting.
