School Districts Planning Late Starts Friday Due to Weather

Several area school districts are getting a head start on planning for Friday's winter weather, meaning late starts and even canceled classes for many students in the Coastal Bend.

Mathis and Jim Hogg independent school districts have canceled school on Friday.

In Banquete, teachers will be arriving on campus at 8:30 a.m., and classes will begin at 9 a.m. Buses will be running about an hour later than normal, and breakfast will be served on campus at 8:30 a.m. for elementary and junior high students, and at the regular time for high school students. Call 361-387-2551 with any questions.

In Alice, teachers and staff will arrive at their campuses at around 9 a.m., and students are expected to be in class by 9:30 a.m. Buses will be running an hour and a half late. Breakfast will still be served. Parents can call 361-664-0981 if they have any questions. Catholic schools in Alice will be starting at 9:30 a.m.

In Beeville, school will be delayed by one hour, with classes starting at 9 a.m. and buses running one hour later than usual. Parents can call the central office at 361-358-7111 if they have any questions.

In Three Rivers, school will begin at 10 a.m. and buses will run two hours later than normal. Parents can call 361-786-3603 if they have any questions.

In Woodsboro, students will begin classes at 10 a.m. and buses will be running two hours later than normal.

In Skidmore-Tynan, classes begin at 10 a.m.

In Refugio, classes also begin at 10 a.m. Buses will run routes two hours later than normal.

In Tuloso-Midway, elementary students begin class at 9 a.m., secondary students start at 10 a.m., and buses will be running one hour later than usual.

In George West, classes begin at 10 a.m. Buses will be running about two hours later than usual.

In Ingleside, there are no changes to the school schedule.

In Kingsville, the district is monitoring the weather and could decide to cancel or delay classes in the morning; but as of Thursday afternoon, classes are expected to be held according to their regular schedule. Kingsville Leadership Academy and Aspire to Lead Charter Schools will be monitoring the conditions, but also expect to hold class as regularly scheduled.

The Corpus Christi Independent School District is on standby as they monitor the weather conditions, but at last report, classes are expected to begin as regularly scheduled.

The West Oso Independent School District will put out a call at 6 a.m. Friday morning to let parents know what their schedule will be.

In Robstown, classes will begin at 9 a.m. Buses will be running an hour behind their regular schedule. Breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m.

In Calallen, at last report classes are expected to begin on their regular schedule.

In Bishop, there are no changes to the school schedule.

In Orange Grove, classes will begin at 10 a.m.

In Aransas Pass, there are no changes to the school schedule.

In Rockport, at last report classes will be held on regular school schedule.

In Benavidez, buses will begin picking up students at 9 a.m. Employees are to report to campus at 9:30 a.m. and students will begin class at 10 a.m.

In Brooks County, classes will be on regular schedule.

In Kenedy-Riviera, classes will begin at regular schedule.

In Taft, classes will be held on their normal schedule.

In Pettus, classes will begin at 10 a.m. Buses will run two hours later than normal.

In Beeville, Coastal Bend College will open at 9 a.m.

In San Diego, classes will begin at 9 a.m.

In Freer, classes will begin at 9:30 a.m. Buses will beginning running at 8 a.m.
