Ice Causes Closures on Various Highways, Harbor Bridge

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

There were several road closures due to icy weather Friday morning, including the Harbor Bridge. That closure was triggered in part by an accident that occurred there.

The Harbor Bridge was closed completely for about 10 minutes, until eventually the northbound center lane to Portland was reopened. The bridge has since been reopened. The closure was sparked by an accident in which one driver described the top of the bridge as an "ice skating rink." She actually fell down while getting out of her car because it was so icy.

The exit from the southbound I-37 to the Joe Fulton Corridor was closed, but has since been reopened. Northbound Highway 77 at I-37 has been reopened as well, as has the Callicoate Road overpass.

Kiii News will keep you notified of road closures throughout the day.
