Fugitive Accused of Counterfeiting Arrested in Mathis

MATHIS (Kiii News) -

A fugitive wanted for being part of a counterfeit money ring was arrested at an apartment on the 1500  block of Hackberry Lane in Mathis just before noon Friday.

Police say Andres "Andy" Tamez was part of a ring that was making counterfeit $100 bills, which were used a couple of times in recent days at the McDonalds in Mathis. The ring also has ties to the community of Tynan in Bee County.

Several other suspects have recently been arrested in connection with the counterfeiting ring.
