Astros' Caravan Rolls Through Town

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii Sports) - The Houston Astros might be coming off the three worst seasons in team history (including a record 111 losses in 2013), but there's still room for optimism for the upcoming year.

That's because new Astros President and former Hooks CEO Reid Ryan has helped instill a sense of hope with the franchise that is making its third straight number one overall pick this summer. Friday Ryan was back in Corpus Christi along with "semi-retired" Hall of Fame radio broadcaster Milo Hamilton, former Astro pitcher J.R. Richard and current players Chris Carter and Marc Krauss.

Ryan pointed to the Astros' offseason moves with bullpen acquisitions and the trade for centerfielder Dexter Fowler as signs that Houston is trying to make a turn for the better in 2014.

Ryan also said plans are in the works to get the Astros' games available to purchase online through MLB.TV if the Astros' suit with CSN Houston in bankruptcy court can't be decided by opening day.

As for Hamilton, the legendary broadcaster says he still enjoys doing functions with the team like the caravans despite not calling games on a regular basis anymore. The 87-year-old says Corpus Christi is, and will always be his favorite stop on the trip.
