Thieves Cut Power to CASA Building, Make Off with Equipment

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

After cutting power to bypass alarm systems twice overnight at the CASA building in the 2600 block of Prescott, thieves managed to make off with thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

It was around 2 a.m. Monday when the power was first cut off. Somebody had switched off the outside circuit breaker. The alarm company notified the CASA's executive director, who then met with police and had the power restored.

However, sometime between then and 7 a.m., thieves returned to the building and cut the power again. This time, the executive director was not notified, and the thieves had time to break a window with a large rock and make their way inside the building.

The thieves made off with seven computers, a projector, the surveillance system and toys that were used by children served by CASA. They also tried to fry several computer servers by pouring water over them. Each computer had an estimated value of about $1,000 a piece.
