CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Corpus Christi firefighters were called out to the Long John Silver's on Staples early Friday morning to battle a fire that burned for over 45 minutes.

Kiii News Reporter Anayeli Ruiz went Live from the restaurant with the details.

Drivers were showing up to the restaurant all day Friday, pulling into the drive-thru not realizing it was closed down because of the fire, which broke out at around 3:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames and heavy smoke caused limited visibility. Crews had the blaze under control within 45 minutes, but the cause of the fire is unknown.

"There's extensive damage all throughout the store, mostly smoke and water damage because the plumbing was breached," said Captain Mike Tressider of the Corpus Christi Fire Department. "Of course, there is fire damage when they first encountered it in the office."

Thankfully, the restaurant was closed when the fire broke out and no one was injured. Fire investigators said the fire started in the restaurant's office area, and appears to be electrical.
