Hundreds of College Applicants Receive False Acceptance Letter

Posted: Updated:
KINGSVILLE (Kiii News) -

Hundreds of applicants to Texas A&M-Kingsville notified they were accepted, actually were not. Thousands of prospective students recently received an email saying congratulations on their acceptance to the university. About 500 applicants received those letters by accident and did not get admitted.

"A follow up email was sent out immediately as soon as the error was realized," said Vice President of Enrollment Manuel Lujan. "There's secondary email going out again just to make sure students receive the appropriate notification."

Lujan says the university is working to make sure an error like this does not happen again.
