Judge Denies Request to Reinstate Bond for David Alvarez

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

He's been sitting in jail for more than 240 days on a $100,000 bond, and on Tuesday, 31-year old David Alvarez was back in court asking that his bond for a prior DUI be reinstated.

The judge denied that request.

Alvarez faces charges of assaulting and killing 25-year old Aaron Juarez in a Whataburger parking lot back in June of 2013. The incident was sparked after Juarez opened his car door too quickly and accidentally dented the vehicle that Alvarez was riding in.

If convicted on the manslaughter charges, Alvarez could face up to 20 years in prison.
