Local Makeup Artist Megan Martinez Honored by Area Leaders

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

A local 25-year old makeup artist who went from being homeless at 15 to owning her own makeup line was honored Wednesday by several area leaders.

The Nueces County Commissioners Court, the City of Corpus Christi and local congressional representatives honored Megan Martinez for her makeup artistry success across the nation.

Martinez owns the line Chaos Makeup, and has done makeup for celebrities from Kanye West to Jay Leno, for high-profile fashion magazines like Vogue and Vanity Fair, and even a former U.S. President. She travels between Los Angeles and New York constantly for work, but still calls Corpus Christi home. She says she is too proud to move to a bigger city.

"Most people end up moving out, but I'm pretty rebellious, to be quite honest," Martinez said. "I tend to go against the stream, so if society says to go to L.A. or New York, or you've got to move to make your dreams happen, or you've got to have this or that -- I basically had nothing. I had not even a dollar to my name, so I was going to really push toward something that wasn't done yet."
