Local Citgo Refinery Fined for Violating Clean Air Act

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Owners of Citgo Refinery in Corpus Christi have been ordered to pay a $2 Million fine for violating the federal Clean Air Act. Federal investigators say the company failed to equip two tanks at their east plant with required emission control features. A judge agreed that as a result of that emission, residents in nearby Oak Park and Hillcrest Subdivisions were exposed to potentially harmful chemicals. A spokesperson for Citgo says they plan to appeal the ruling.
