Grand Jury: Deputies Justified in Shooting of Beeville Suspect

A grand jury found Thursday that Bee and Live Oak county deputies were justified in their actions that resulted in the death of a 51-year old man back on Jan. 4.

Dramatic dash cam video of the incident was released by the Bee County Sheriff's Department. 51-year old Jerry De La Garza, who was wanted in a domestic violence case, had led deputies in the pursuit that ended on Highway 59, near Beeville, where officers

Officers had managed to stop De La Garza's vehicle, but when he attempted to run over a deputy, they opened fire. De La Garza was killed in the shooting.

The grand jury decided that the deputies involved committed no criminal acts.

    A man is died after being hit by two vehicles while walking along the 200 block of NPID near the Agnes Street Exit.Police got the call around 8:50 Friday evening by drivers that say the man was walking along the highway and was staggering. Minutes later the two cars ran him over and the drivers stopped to help but he was dead. No tickets were handed out over this accident.More >>
