CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The family of a six year old boy who was run over by a truck this morning has identified the young victim as Greg David Martinez.  The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Devon.

The child was quickly taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.

The 31 year old driver of the F-150 truck told police he saw the children playing near the vehicle and warned the children playing that he was going to move.

The young boy was run over as the driver reversed out of the private driveway.

The truck was impounded for investigation purposes.

No charges or citations have been given at this time.

Saturday night, extended family members held a benefit taco sale for the child's parents in order to help cover the funeral costs.  Several people turned out to show their support.  3 News was also there and will have the story tonight on 3 News at 10.
