Outpouring of Support to Family of Six Year Run over Victim

Posted: Updated:

It was a bittersweet scene this afternoon near the corner of South Staples and Carroll Lane, this as many of your neighbors donated in a benefit taco sale for the family of a six year old boy who was run over by a truck.

The young victim's name is Greg David Martinez.

The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Devon Saturday morning.

The child was quickly taken to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.

The 31 year old driver of the F-150 truck told police he saw the children playing near the vehicle and warned the children playing that he was going to move.

The young boy was run over as the driver reversed out of the private driveway.

No charges or citations have been given at this time.

Meanwhile, we are told that today's benefit taco sale will help cover the funeral costs.

The mother of the victim tells 3 News that she is grateful for all of those who have donated.
