Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Starting Monday, Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi and Kingsville will be taking part in an annual training event called Exercise Solid Curtain - Citadel Shield.

The annual exercise involves all U.S. Navy installations in the continental United States, and aims to enhance training and readiness of the Navy forces to respond to threats. It will continue through Feb. 28.

According to officials at NAS-Corpus Christi, they have taken measures to prevent disruptions from base operations, but at times, the exercise could create traffic congestion around the base, as well as delays in base access. Nearby residents may also notice increased security activity, but it's all part of the exercise, so do no be alarmed.
