Storefronts Decorate to Show Islander Homecoming Spirit

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It's Homecoming week at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and some local businesses decided to show their Islander spirit by decorating their storefronts.

Businesses along Alameda and Avalon, across from the HEB, painted their windows blue and white in support of the University. Homecoming runs Feb. 24-March 1, and ends with the competition between the Islanders Women's and Islanders Men's basketball teams against Houston Baptist, as well as a Homecoming tailgate party and parade downtown.

Also part of the Homecoming tradition, TAMUCC's students will have a chance to defend their previous win against the University's faculty and staff in the Faculty vs. Students basketball game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Dugan Wellness Center. During halftime, the 2014 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and there will be twirling and performances by the Islanders Cheer Team.
