CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Corpus Christi Produce distributes fruits and vegetables across the Coastal Bend.

Sarah Acosta was live there this morning getting a behind the scenes look at how they operate.

Workers start arriving around 4 a.m. to make sure orders are in place, and then it's hustle between the large coolers and the loading dock to prepare for deliveries.

By 5 a.m. trucks begin to pull out of the building to deliver produce to the majority of area schools and businesses from Refugio to Kleberg counties.

Owner Margaret Jataine, said the majority of fruit comes from California, Arizona and Texas. She said it doesn't stay at the building for long before it is shipped out to an area location.

She said the most important tip to remember when eating fruit or vegetables is to wash it before you eat it and to eat a lot of it- because it's good for you.
