A Love Story Ripped Right from the Pages of the Movie, The Notebook

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

It's a story about everlasting love.  A story that almost seems like it was taken straight out of the movie, The Notebook.

Enrique and Emma Flores are a Corpus Christi couple who were married for 60 years.  they were always together, side by side, until the very end of their lives.

Five years ago, Emma began a long battle with liver cancer and this past January, Enrique was placed in a nursing home.  He suffered from Alzheimer's and Emma had grown too weak to care for him.  For Enrique, everyone became a stranger due to his illness, but he never forgot his love.

Saturday night, the family was at home with Emma when she passed away.  Her kids and grandkids gathered in her room, grieving and praying over her.  That is when the Flores family got a phone call from the nursing home.

The family was shocked to find out that their father had passed just with in the same hour as their mother.  Despite the pain that the family is going through, it gives them peace to know that Emma and Enrique have both been reunited in heaven, together, holding hands, as they were in life.

Anayeli Ruiz has their story.
