Aransas Pass Looking To Reverse Past History at State

Posted: Updated:

ARANSAS PASS (Kiii Sports) - The Aransas Pass Panthers have a storied history of reaching state tournaments, they just don't have a history of winning games there.

The tenth-ranked Panthers will be making their seventh appearance in the state semifinals this Friday when they take on #4 Ponder, but AP has never won a game in their previous six visits. The Panthers will look to reverse that trend after already avenging a loss in last year's region final. AP was called for an offensive foul with just seconds remaining in a loss to East Chambers, a defeat that motivated coach Glen Hayes's team all season long.

Hayes says the win this past Saturday over Hallettsville in the region final was made all the sweeter after last year's loss, but that "business wasn't finished yet."

The Panthers will look to make school history Friday at the Erwin Center in Austin when they take on Ponder at 8:30 a.m. 3Sports will have highlights from the game that night.
