Graduation Ceremony Held for 72nd Corpus Christi Police Academy

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Police Department added some new officers to their ranks Friday as the 72nd Police Academy held their graduation ceremony.

A total of 25 cadets walked across the stage at the Richardson Performing Arts Center after finally completing their Police Academy training.

"We've been through everything together, through thick and thin," Academy graduate Andrea Lenortavage said. "It's an amazing relationship that we have formed, each and every one of us."

The past few weeks have been full of intense training to prepare the cadets for their work on the streets. They have been pushed to the limits physically, mentally and emotionally.

"The training was tough, and it pushes people beyond what they think they can do," Academy graduate Aaron Stewart said. "The Academy pushes us that much further."

Something special that stood out among the 72nd cadets was their strong faith.

"They are not shy about their faith, and neither am I," Police Chief Floyd Simpson said. "That's a good thing. Our hiring processes are going well, and we are bringing in the right people."

The new officers will begin patrolling the streets as full-fledged police officers on Sunday.

If you are interested in joining the 73rd Police Academy, you can get all the information you need by clicking here. The deadline to apply is March 31.
