CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

When a child gets sick and is taken to Driscoll Children's Hospital, it's not just the child that is affected, but the entire family.

That is why one local radio station hosts an annual Radiothon to raise money for the kids and their families to stay there.

"We do care for the whole family," said Martha Avery, Vice President of Development at Driscoll Children's Hospital. "You don't care for a child in isolation, there's family members, there's siblings to think about, so we have a lot of extra services and programs here to educate and make the entire family comfortable."

All Friday long, K-99 was broadcasting over at Driscoll for their 12th annual Radiothon. Over the span of 12 years, they have raised over $750,000.

One family from Lubbock, Texas, who have been staying at the hospital since January said they wouldn't go anywhere else.

"They treat you like family," said Katrina Hill, the mother of "Superman" Sam. "It's not just another patient-by-patient status. They're always there for you."
