Port Aransas Businesses Hoping for Profitable Spring Break

Posted: Updated:
PORT ARANSAS (Kiii News) -

Business owners in Port Aransas are hoping this Spring Break will be a profitable one. Of course, Mother Nature plays a big role in that, but the business owners are optimistic.

Businesses are hoping for great weather despite the mixed forecast. Most business owners said their inventories are ready, and not just for Spring Break, but for the summer tourist season as well.

And to help with what are expected to be large crowds of Spring Breakers using the Port Aransas Ferry, the Texas Department of Transportation is launching some brand new technology.

They are using signals emitted by motorist using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology to estimate the ferry wait time for travelers. That wait time will then be posted on changeable message boards for drivers traveling to Mustang Island and Port Aransas.

It will also be posted on Twitter. Just follow @porta_ferry.
