Suspect Accused of Raping 11-Year Old Requests Change of Venue

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Defense attorneys in the case of 20-year old Eric Dimmick, one of three men charged with kidnapping and raping an 11-year old girl in 2012, were in court Thursday requesting the trial be moved elsewhere.

Dimmick's lawyer showed the court lists of articles from various local media outlets, arguing that his client will be unable to receive a fair trial in Nueces County.

319th District Court Judge David Stith is expected to rule on the matter next week. He stated Thursday that he did not yet have all of the requested documents from local media sources necessary to make a ruling.

Dimmick, along with Colton Visor and Jacob Musich, were charged with kidnapping an 11-year old girl as she was riding her bike on the southside of town, and then taking her to the beach and raping her. Musich has been sentenced to life in prison for his part. Visor was sentenced to 30 years and is expected to testify against Dimmick as part of his plea deal.
