CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The U.S. Coast Guard honored one of their own Thursday with one of the highest awards, and they also remembered one of their fallen.

A ceremony was held at Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi to honor Petty Officer Connick with the Commander Ray Evans Outstanding Coxswain Trophy, an award given out annually within the Coast Guard.

Connick and his crew chased down a Mexican drug boat after the Mexican crew murdered Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne III. They relentlessly pursued the vessel in high seas and intercepted it before it could reach Mexican waters.

Connick is currently attached to Sector Corpus Christi as a reservist.
