Blood Center Hosts "Pint for a Pint" Blood Drive for St. Patrick's Day

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Coastal Bend Blood Center is holding their second annual Pint for a Pint Blood Drive in celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Donate a pint of blood, and you get a commemorative pint glass!

According to Leticia Mondragon, donor recruiter of the Coastal Bend Blood Center, Spring Break has led to an increase in blood usage and a drop in donations, so they are trying to make up for that by encouraging people to donate.

"It's just a way of showing our thanks to all of our donors and making it a fun day today, being that it is St. Patrick's Day," Mondragon said. "Not only do they get this commemorative Pint for a Pint pint glass, but they'll also earn double points for online donor store; they also receive a coupon courtesy of sonic; but most importantly they can help save three lives with each blood donation."

The blood drive is going on at multiple locations across the Coastal Bend. Phlebotomists will be on-hand taking donations at the Nueces County Courthouse and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi until 3 p.m; at Christus Spohn Hospital Beeville from 2-6 p.m.; and for those who can't donate until this evening, they will be accepting blood donations at the Corpus Christi Athletic Club from 5-8 p.m.

Of course, you can always head out to the Coastal Bend Blood Center at 209 North Padre Island Drive and make your donation there. They'll be open until 6:30 p.m.
